Please. I'm trying to do some Prog Rock influenced music (think Yes, Genesis, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Jethro Tull), so I'm looking for a vst that could. However, the VST's (Vitual Synth plug-ins) that come with most Recording Suites (Sonar, Ableton, etc), are quite adequate for adding these.
Of course, if you really want to open up the amazing world of software instruments, an investment in Kontakt is the way to go.
I use Sonar cakewalkbut the choice is yours. I can vouch for vb3 also. Put the organ on a channel with some serious tube saturation and it kicks butt. They are not cheap and require iLok but they are very playable. Guitar pro is a midi system, it just uses the guitar pro engine to generate the sounds.
I assume i'll need a couple of synth, some sort of sequencer, a drum machine. I don't think too many people play Progressive Rock here (most of us do electronic music) but basically the usual choices . Or with FREE vst's.

Go here to listen to what they produce. Like lots of things are done with uranium. You'll like that too. A great thing about Rapt and Z3TA is The Museum collection freewhich gives you access to more old synths than you can shake a stick at, if you want those kind of sounds for classic rock.
